⛵ Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

🔫 Linnet Ridgeway is rich and spoilt, Jacqueline de Belleforte is her best childhood friend. Jaqueline’s fiancé Simon Doyle is out of work, and they ask Linnet for help. But then Linnet steals Simon from Jaqueline, the happy couple gets married and travels to Cairo for their honeymoon, with Jaqueline following them everywhere. Late one night, while Jaqueline fights with Simon, Linnet is murdered in her cruise cabin. Luckily for everybody, Hercule Poirot happens to be enjoying a holiday on the same Nile cruise.

♥️ I liked:
🏜️ The setting. I love Egypt, so anything set there is already a winner for me. I loved the attention to detail of Agatha Christie, and the hints of archaeological history. The setting brings this incredible book alive, probably thanks to all the stories that the writer learned on her own Egyptian trips.
👪 The characters. As usual, with Agatha Christie, no one is who they appear to be. There is more than one person that is very unhappy to see Poirot on the ship, but who is the murderer?
🔍 The humanity of Poirot. He is the usual clever, amazing and annoying Poirot but, in this mystery more than in others, I noticed his human side. He openly admits that he is vain, doesn’t charge one of the passengers with theft to let him follow his heart, and doesn’t do something else at the very end of the book that I can’t say to avoid spoilers.
❓ The whodunnit. I have to admit it wasn’t too difficult to spot the culrpit. What was incredible, though, was how the murder was carried out. That, I would have never guessed in a million years.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Another very enjoyable mystery, with an incredible setting, very well described characters and with Poirot saving the day. What else can you wish for?
