Ove may look a bit grumpy, but behind his cranky exterior, there is a story of sadness. His attitude changes, when one November morning a family with two young daughters moves in next door. This leads to a heartwarming tale and an unexpected friendship.
♥️ I liked:
The characters.
🧓🏻 Ove is just incredible, he is portrayed so well, with all his quirks and all his rules. You kind of know that something bad happened to him in the past, and, when you discover what, it’s impossible not to love him.
👩🏽 Parvaneh is such a strong character. She is a lovely young mother, full of life and expectations. She is the one that starts to change Ove’s attitude, scraping away his cranky exterior to reveal the selfless and lovable man he truly is.
🤩 Friendship. This is the core of the book: how friends can help you, even and especially when you don’t want them to do it. How friendship can change a person. How, if your friendship is real, no matter how long you haven’t spoken to your friends, you’ll still be there for them and they’ll still be there for you.
👨👩👧👧 Family. Another important topic. And I am not talking only about biological family here, but about those people that you love so much, that you want to be part of your family. I have to admit that I’ve almost cried when Parvaneh’s eldest daughter called Ove “Grandad”.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 An heart-warming book, with amazing characters, that I really enjoyed reading. Perfect if you are looking for a smile and an injection of love.
