The Plot
Rain has returned to the Northwoods of Wisconsin, deciding to keep her family’s library open during winter as well. Her little log cabin is cosier than ever, thanks to the new wood stove and the coffee bar. Unfortunately, though, during the local ice fishing tournament, a man is found dead in his fishing shack, and Julia’s husband (Rain’s BFF) is the number one suspect.
❤️ What I liked about Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danversy
🔥 The cabin. A glowing wood stove, a cosy blanket, hot coffee and shelves full of books… I mean, what else can any bookworm desire to survive winter? I would move there immediately! atmosphere is recreated to perfection. It really feels like the book comes from another time and place.
✍️ The style. It’s entertaining and engaging. It can easily be read in one day… the only issue is that it will leave you wanting more.
🔍 The whodunit. The story was quite clever, the murder weapon intriguing… but I won’t say more!
To the score
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 The Watchmaker of Filigree Street is a unique book. A mixture between steampunk, /5 The perfect cosy mystery to transit from Summer to Autumn. It will remind you that colder days are as nice as warm ones, if spent by a fireplace, drinking something hot and reading a good book. Thanks to #netgalley and #CrookedLaneBooks for the ARC.
